Your Favourite Horror Film from 1992
 

1992 was a year for some brilliant horror films, but which one is your favourite? What makes it special to you? When did you first see it? Would you recommend it to the uninitiated?

Sometimes it's a hard decision to just pick one film (even when you're limiting it to a single year!), but my favourite film of 1992 is...

I have always had a special place in my heart for Dr. Giggles...

Saw this on its midnight premier in Manchester. Although it has its critics, it ticks all the right boxes for me - gothic horror, blood, sex, a great cast,and an absolutely brilliant score.

Bram Stoker's Dracula

It's a hard choice between Army of Darkness and Braindead, but I think Peter Jackson's gorefest wins out, just.

Braindead,fun,fun,fun.First saw it at small cinema here in Finland actually,a rare occasion for a gory horror film to play here during the 90's.Candyman & Dust Devil are also brilliant,unique movies.Didn't think much of Coppola's Dracula though,even if I really wanted to like it.

A film not yet mentioned, perhaps rightly so - The last great gialli, except its American, with a Dutch director.

A detective investigating a murder, a deadly affair with three women, a novelist whose fictional murders have a strange way of coming true, a white silk scarf tied to a bed post , oh, and an ice pick. - Basic Instinct

And don't forget an infamous flashing scene that caused many a young lad to wear out the pause/rewind button on their remote! ;) :lol:

Seriously though, I've never really rated this one, but the way you describe it; it actually sounds really good!

Seen now in 2011, without the hype, it is very good, very bloody in places and like all good gialli you don't know who the killer is until the final reel.

For me, it was this film along with Sliver, Body of Evidence and numerous direct to video efforts starring the like of Deborah Shelton, Shannon Tweed and Shannon Whirry that made me investigate the Italian masterpieces they were obviously influenced by. (Unfortunately the American sex and murder films are still only direct to video and have not made the jump to dvd)

I was a nineties cinema regular and saw Basic Instinct on the big screen.
No pause or rewind facilities though....:lol:


Coppola's DRACULA for me a beautiful film,slightly spoiled by a plank.
