Scream for me, takes what Craven did in New Nightmare and ramps it up ten-fold. There's nothing like killing off your lead actress (and cover/poster star!) in 10 minutes to ram home that your going to mess with people.

The Frighteners (Fox's best performance? When you take into account that he was ill at this time, then most probably) and From Dusk Till Dawn take medals too.

From Dusk till Dawn is about the most fun a horror film can be. Excellent from start to finish.

I hate From Dusk Till Dawn, it would have been a fine crime film without the stupid stuff at the bar. Anyway, Scream is really awesome, so it's my pick for '96.

Scream

Scream felt fresh when it came out and it had a very high fun factor with some great kills.

That opening sequence with Drew Barrymore was astonishing first time cinema viewing.

I voted for The Craft for this year and i still stand by it. Having said that it was a very good year for horror.
