Question Your Favourite Horror Film from 1993

1993 was a year for some brilliant horror films, but which one is your favourite? What makes it special to you? When did you first see it? Would you recommend it to the uninitiated?

Sometimes it's a hard decision to just pick one film (even when you're limiting it to a single year!), but my favourite film of 1993 is...

Cronos - Guillermo del Toro

A fantastic and original take on the Vampire myth from del Toro, Cronos, like all of his films is a visual treat. Beautifully crafted and very intelligently written, it is definitely worth seeking out for those who haven't seen it.

Trailer:

Runners Up:
Body Melt
Body Snatchers
The Dark Half
Dark Waters
Fire in the Sky
Hocus Pocus
Necronomicon
Needful Things
Trauma
The Washing Machine

Dark Waters

A brilliant, mainly unseen, gothic horror, it deserves to be cherished.

Like bizarre_eye, my favourite film this year is Guillermo del Toro's thought-provoking and intelligent take on vampirism as Cronos is superbly acted and it's no wonder del Toro came to many people's attention and was given the opportunity to make films like Mimic, The Devil's Backbone, Hellboy and his first masterpiece, Pan's Labyrinth.

Cronos

Yep, Cronos for sure, but I'd say Body Snatchers was snapping at its heels.

The Dark Half was an excellent and under-rated effort this year too.

Jurassic Park for me .

The velociraptors scared me more as a 10 year old than Freddy and Jason put together.

I seem to remember liking Necronomicon quite a bit when I first saw it.I haven't seen it for ages though and don't have it on DVD.Is there a decent version available?
