What did you make of Martyrs Reaps?

I know what you mean Loops! But there are some really great horror films that have come out this year that are well worth checking out if you get the time.

I was going to add District 9 but I dont think that counts as a horror really. Meh.

MARTYRS started off excellently ILUV,shockingly violent!

But when the 'motive' kicked in,it was another WTF? moment!

I felt cheated.

I thought we were in for an ultraviolent Gallic version of STRAW DOGS/LAST HOUSE et al.....

Give me HAUTE TENSION anyday....

Yeah, I'm with you there Reaps - it did get all a bit too arty-farty. Oooooh yeah that reminds me of another 09 horror - ANTICHRIST! This film split audiences right down the middle...like marmite. I hated it at first, way way way to pedantic and snobby arty-farty-look-how-clever-I'm-TRYING-to-be-but-ultimatly-failing nonesense, but perhaps a second viewing will change my mind

Was Inside this year as well? If so, that is an incredible film and much better than Martyrs (and Switchblade Romance!)

Yep the very same.

There are some really amazing bits in there, Reaps, but there are also some horribly crap moments in there. Let us know what you make of it, wont you.

Btw - I luv the DVD art for it!

Yeah, I think it comes out early Jan. Oh and don't forget My Bloody Valentine 3D! That was a great film and one of the most enjoyable horrors all year. UNLIKE Friday The 13th which was about as much fun as tripping over and landing face first in cow poo.

Saw 6 is painfully bad, I aint liked a Saw film since 3. First 3 were ok and then it started to get stupid.

I not seen Anti-christ yet but will soon and Martyrs was good but then I did think it dragged on a bit too much at the end.

Hills Run Red was fun although I would not put it on the best of 09 list.

Cant think of any others off the top of my head atm.
