Well, having now watched this ( on UK dvd ) I really don't quite know what to make of it. I was enjoying it up to the half way point, then it seemed to lose its way a bit and go all over the place. By the time Asia had gained the ability to make herself invisible I began to despair.

Picked up a bit again with some nice shocks ( including one real 'jump out of your skin' moment )....leading towards a very unexciting finale and a real wtf?? final shot.

A real mixed bag here. Had potential, was good in bits, but ultimately just ok.

Saw this at Edinburgh's Dead By Dawn festival.

Hilarious.

My favourite scene? Not sure. Udo Kier staggering on as an old man was funny. The blatantly fake baby doll being thrown over a bridge was great. Nicolodi returning as a ghost to wrestle one of Asia's aggressors was priceless. The male lead discovering his child had been murdered but deciding to worry about that later was mint too. Oh, and the ending - we've just been through Hell (literally) so let's just sit in the middle of the road and giggle for a minute.

Argento died in 1987. Who is this ludicrous imposter who's been shitting on his reputation ever since?

I say that, but I feel cruel now.

I confess to thinking Sleepless and The Stendhal Syndrome are great films, in fact.

But Mother Of Tears is preposterous. Gory, fun in a guilty way (I WILL buy it!), but stupid beyond belief - if it was made by an unknown I'd laugh. But it's been made by Argento. He made Tenebrae!!

MOTHER OF TEARS is easily the worst film I have seen this year.

You've not seen Indiana Jones then! lol

I still standby Mother, it's not his best film (by a long, long shot) but it's not his worst... and certainly not as bad as some of the junk out there.

Anyone see the One Missed Call re-make? a shit film re-made to an even shitter standard!! Eric Vallette should be ashamed of himself! Malefique was one of the first examples of New-wave French horror and the level of quality we have come to expect from them - but his US debut... urgh.

I liked INDY. Granted, it's no classic but I thoroughly enjoyed it. MOTHER OF TEARS is ****ing abysmal.

Agreed. I'm gob-smacked by how many apologists there are for this film.

Argento could produce a giallo version of 2 girls 1 cup and I would still watch it. He is a genius
