Question Your Favourite Horror Film from 2006

2006 was a year for some decent horror films, but which one is your favourite? What makes it special to you? When did you first see it? Would you recommend it to the uninitiated?

Sometimes it's a hard decision to just pick one film (even when you're limiting it to a single year!), but my favourite film of 2006 is...

Ils - David Moreau & Xavier Palud

In some ways more of a thriller than a straight up horror film, Ils is one of the best of the bunch when it comes to the new-wave of French horrors that peppered the 2000s (and certainly made the decade more bearable!).

Very creepy; on first viewing you're not sure what to expect (only if you go in spoiler free, of course), but Ils delivers terror and suspense and some twists and turns along the way. Overall a very decent, well made film.

Trailer:

Runners Up:
Bloody Reunion
Fido
The Host
The Last Winter
Poultrygeist: The Night of the Chicken Dead
Salvage
Silent Hill
Taxidermia

Not an easy pick but I'll go with The Host. Fun monster movie.

The Host takes it for me this year. It's probably my least favorite film by director Joon-ho Bong, but it's possibly the only one that would qualify as horror.

Also enjoyed from this year Behind the Mask: Rise of Leslie Vernon, Slither, and Ils.

The Descent. Very claustrophobic and creepy... Even before the "crawlers" turn up.

Taxidermia sounds interesting.

One or two decent films from this year.

Behind the Mask: The Rise of Leslie Vernon
Black Sheep
Broken
Cold Prey
The Devil's Chair
The Devil's Den
Fido
Grimm Love
Hatchet
The Hills Have Eyes
Severance
Sheitan
Slither
Them
Wilderness

I think Fido would be my choice. I didn't see it until a couple of years ago but i remember the joy and sheer fun i had watching it.

Is it wrong to want to watch Carrie Ann Moss get it on with a zombie?
