Cool 'Resident Evil' - The Movies

This is the trailer for the newest Resident Evil flick, Resident Evil : Retribution.

Holy moly, I almost fainted! Resident Evil: Afterlife was a huge disappointment after the excellent Resident Evil: Extinction.

But what the is this? Judging from this trailer, we've got to expect a horrible mixture of Star Trek, The Thing, and 85% of mediocre 3D action.

I know that I will finally end up watching this, as I am a huge fan of Milla Jovovich (Didn't you know? Maybe it's time for even more pictures on the naughty 'Post Your Favourite Film Stills' thread... ).
But this trailer nearly scared me as much as Argento's Dracula 3D teaser...

What do you think? Are you looking forward to the newest entry in this successful franchise? Do you like the Resident Evil flicks in general, or do you think they're crap? Go ahead!

Greetings!

The only one I liked was 'EXTINCTION' the others are awful (I've not seen pt 5 though).

No 2 is one of the worst films I have ever seen.

Ahh, the films are fun! The first one was quite probably the first zombie film I saw and fell in love with straight away. 2 was equally as awesome. 3 was total poop. 4 however was utterly stupid but unbelievably fun at the same time. I know they're bad films, but I'll still be going to see one in the cinemas

I never played any of the Resident Evil games. However, I have quite a soft spot for this movie franchise.

I still like the first movie for what it is: a free and fast-paced video game adaption. The claustrophobic atmosphere is just brilliant! The action is great, and the Zombies (especially the mutated dogs) are still scary.

The second (Apocalypse)...well, at first I felt exactly like Pete, I didn't like it at all. Why? I don't know, it simply didn't feel right after the first part, although many people say that this movie is the one that comes as close as possible to the video games (something I can neither deny nor confirm). However, I have to admit that I quite liked it when I watched it on Blu-ray a few weeks ago - with the scenes in the church and on the graveyard being well-staged and genuinely creepy.

The third (Extinction) is an excellent movie. It's not only the best part of the series so far, it's also a great film on its own. It has great cinematography, great characters, and fantastic action.

Number four (Afterlife) is the weakest film of the series, if you ask me. It seems as if almost all the money went into the 3D effects, and nothing was left for a good story or more atmosphere. It just looks too much like one of those modern action films that have been springing up like mushrooms for quite a while now. But, as Kyle has already implied - it's quite entertaining anyhow.

My expectations are pretty low at the moment - as the trailer for Retribution looks pretty similar to Afterlife - new ideas, anybody?

Greetings!

As for the films, sorry, but Apocalypse (2) wins for me every time, a huge city shoot em' up - whats not to love?

The third Extinction is decent enough, the first is not too bad, though i loathed it deeply when i first saw it, and Afterlife (4) was awful, although i have yet to see it all the way through as the two times i have tried i have fallen asleep.

Milla's indeed a valid reason for watching these movies...
