“One of the films of the year” The London Film Review

“Original, chilling and compelling” ScreenGeek

“Wonderfully talented Jennifer Lynch” BoxOfficeBuz

From the mind of writer/director Jennifer Lynch comes the shocker that stunned audiences worldwide: When he was 9 years old, Tim and his mother were abducted by taxi-driving serial killer Bob (an intensely disturbing performance by Vincent D’Onofrio). Tim’s mother was murdered.

Tim was kept as a chained slave, forced to bury the bodies of young women Bob drags home and keep scrapbooks of the crimes. Now a teenager, Tim (Eamon Farren) and Bob share a depraved father/son/protégé relationship.

But who will ultimately sever the bond between ‘family’ and unimaginable horror? Jake Weber (“Medium”), Evan Bird (“The Killing”) and Julia Ormond (THE CURIOUS CASE OF BENJAMIN BUTTON, “Mad Men”) co-star in what critics are calling one of the most controversial and uncompromising thrillers of our time.

I really loved the slow pace and the psychological terror in this film.
The killer is very well played, as is it's victim.
Not to much gore, more suspense and a nice ending ;)
I really enjoyed it, but it's a little different ;)

Same here. I, like many others, thought Boxing Helena was a load of old pap but I quite enjoyed Surveillance and this sounds interesting enough to warrant a viewing.

Could this be the first press release/piece of promotion not to mention her father I wonder? :)

No nepotism needed!

It's a stand out film, has that Henry: Portrait of a Serial Killer tone. It's not exploitative, rather it's nasty in places because the subject matter requires it.

Lynch Not 'Chained' to Horror Conventions - Yahoo!7 News

Roughale 6th February 2013 12:36 PM

I caught this last year at the Fantasy Filmfest and Jennifer Lynch was there and had a good Q&A afterwards, which can be found here in two parts (I only link part 1):

Jennifer Lynch - Chained Q&A (part 1/2) - YouTube

I am also in there with one question, I forgot what it was, but it came over weird anyhoww, as far as I remember ;)

I think she made a very good film there, in my opinion much better that her dad does, but I better not get into that :loco:

One question about this new DVD/BD: Is that the unrated cut or the US theatrical cut? No need to hurry, I have to wait for Kyle's competition to end anyhow... :woot:

nekromantik 6th February 2013 09:37 PM

Sucks the UK release is the edited R rated cut.
Nowhere has this fully uncut yet. US release has the cut scene as a extra however.

Which scene is cut? Saw it at Frightfest and don't remember anything too brutal. Thought the film was just OK, definitely worth a watch for the acting and measured approach, although the characters didn't add up for me and that ending was a joke.
