Very much looking forward to these even if the titling and captions of the trailer are ridiculously self important!

Let me give you the tip, not to expect too much of the film. I had a chance to watch it at the Fantasy Filmfest Nights here a couple of weeks ago and was rather disappointed for several reasons, which may not apply for all, because silly acting and tedious long plot parts may be part of such films and not as annoying for others as they were for me ;) It would surely have helped to have some sympathy with the characters, but it just was impossible for me... The nature pictures are absolutely great (as the trailer also shows) and the tribe is fantastically strange but it also plays a part in the things that went wrong for me. And normally logic is put aside for films, but as I try to take cannibal films as real as possible, reality check kicked in and I noticed that it is rather silly to have such a hidden tribe dressed - this shouted "MPAA, please accept this" to me and that should not happen in a cannibal film and felt almost cowardly to me. The gore moments are not as many as some may think, they are solid, but since they are mostly not really new, they did not work well for me...

And the ending was complete bullshit for me, but that may go to far into spoiler regions...

I am not saying it is a bad film, but if you expect a taboo-breaking big shocker, you may come out as disappointed as I did. But maybe I am alone in this, other people liked it, oh well...

It's an Eli Roth film......Expectations are not high to begin with...

It's been announced as part of the Edinburgh International Film Festival line-up (end of June) for those who haven't had the chance to see it.

There is just something about Eli I don't like, yet I can't but my finger on it

Got no problem with the man himself but didn't really like any of his movies, not awful but just didn't do anything for me. But he was great in inglorious bastards

I just saw this too :( I'm hoping it won't affect the UK release date.

I was looking on the BBFC website the other day and it lists the UK release date as 5th January.

As in, there's no chance it's out next Monday

Jani 26th January 2015 05:04 AM

It seems like the wait is not gonna do any favours to this film.

Roughale 26th January 2015 01:21 PM

Just to prove Rik right, I have to report from Germany that the release here has been postponed once again and no new release date has been provided...

Rik 26th January 2015 01:26 PM

I hope it's worth the bloody wait now, all this messing about has made me want to see it even more!

It's still listed on Amazon.de as coming out next Monday, but I'm sure this isn't the case

Nordicdusk 26th January 2015 02:30 PM

Are all these delays just to create hype so people want to see it more. The tag line the film they didn't want you to see.

I think I have said it before that it is better to keep the expectation as low as possible, as I had been disappointed with my high expectation, when I could see it at last year's Fantasy Filmfest Nights...

As to the amazon listings, they are known to be slow on updates in such cases...

Edit: They must have changed it after you checked it says December 31st 2015, which is the usual dummy date when no date is available...

PaulD 1st June 2015 06:13 PM

Coming out now through Blumhouse Productions (Paranormal Activity, Insidious, Sinister, Whiplash etc) on 25th September. Presumably an American release date but good news still - hope it makes it over here.

Imo films like this work better when they are made they come across as a low budget with a gritty and grim feeling to the film, not bright and colourfull hollywood style.

But hey i could be wrong

Graeme73 21st September 2015 08:17 AM

UK Date?

Anybody know when this is being released in the UK?

As far as I know there isn't a UK release date yet. It could be that distributors are looking at how well it does stateside before deciding on how to proceed.

gag 21st September 2015 12:56 PM

Ive checked on a few sites and they all say similar things back end of sept
some give date of the 25th

‘Green Inferno’ Release Date: Eli Roth Horror Set for Sept. 25 | Variety

Rik 21st September 2015 01:03 PM

Yeah, but there's still no UK release date, the 25th is for the US. I doubt it'll get a theatrical release over here, or only a limited one, so I'm not expecting the Vue in Halifax to show it

gag 21st September 2015 01:11 PM

well I've checked again and 2 sites say December in the small print

Demdike@Cult Labs 21st September 2015 01:14 PM

It'll go direct to dvd early next year in the UK i would think...unless it performs really well in the States.

Frankenhooker 21st September 2015 01:34 PM

I think it'll hit VOD after a short theatrical run stateside. I agree with Dem, can't see it getting a UK cinema release.

Justin101 21st September 2015 01:50 PM

This definitely a direct to DVD one for the UK, saying that I'm more likely to take a punt on an £8.00 DVD than a £10.00 cinema ticket, at least I can resell a DVD

Rik 21st September 2015 02:42 PM

Yeah, can't see my girlfriend wanting to go watch this, she likes horror, but I've not dared expose her to the delights of the Italian Cannibal films

:) or keep it if you like it also as many as you want can watch it at same time without all having to pay.

If cinema prices brought their prices down then they get more people going £5 should be acceptable but like owt else money grabbing b@stards dont think that way..

Justin101 21st September 2015 04:01 PM

I read an article about Odeon having special pricing that basically adds money on to the base ticket price depending on how busy the expect an opening weekend to be, for example the Hollywood blockbuster of the week has an extra £1.00 on them, Spectre has an extra £1.50 lashed on the top!
