God no, jaws is one of those films that should not be touched its perfect the way it is. Give me a rubber shark any day over a CGI monstrosity

dis 9th April 2013 05:03 PM

There is but a lot film makers/ studios would rather take the easy route of cgi, which can be good for some films.

Kind of, Eli Roth is just finishing up work on The Green Inferno

gag 9th April 2013 05:40 PM

Wouldn't it be easier to try and find what film ISN'T getting a remake I've heard about videodrome but also heard another one of cronenbergs films as well

Slippery Jack 9th April 2013 08:50 PM

I'm surprised there's no sign of Martin being remade - it's got vampire stuff AND loads of teen angst (ie box office GOLD) . . .

The Reaper Man@Cult Labs 9th April 2013 08:51 PM

Twilight.....:tongue1:

Exactly, that's what I'm talking about. The Twilight crowd would lap it up . . .

The Reaper Man@Cult Labs 9th April 2013 09:38 PM

Not if they remade it with porn stars....

Police Academy?

No, just no. You are never going to match that cast.. ever.

Stephen King's It could be interesting.

Criterion7 9th April 2013 11:28 PM

I am kinda looking forward to the Town That Dreaded Sundown remake

Vampix 10th April 2013 12:53 AM

Now we've had The Evil Dead remade, how about a remake of Re-Animator? I wouldn't mind seeing that.

Yeah, leave this classic alone thank you very much.

You can imagine what a modern version would be like anyway...

Blu-rayDrome - "Ah, it's not 4K! Too much DNR! Oh no, not Edge Enchancement" /boredom

The End.

Happy Birthday to Me is perfect modern Slasher material.

Rik 13th April 2013 07:59 PM

Point Break is getting remade, The Shining is getting a prequel called the Overlook Hotel, which Mr King isn't too happy about, not surprised considering the mess Kubrick made of his book (BTW, I love the Shining, one of my favourite horrors, but as an adaption from a book, it's very poor)

Cue lots of jump cut editing with the creepy twins.

TBH I'm more excited about his sequel novel Dr Sleep, due this Autumn

If that happened I would gladly spoon my own eyes out on the off chance I may get a glimpse of that abomination!

Andra Jai 13th April 2013 08:31 PM

Escape from New York is coming, apparently they are trying to decide between Gerard Butler and Jason Statham for the lead

Wtf! I'll tell you what, that would actually work for me if they get Michael J Fox, Christopher Lloyd, Lea Thompson, Crispin Glover and Thomas F Wilson back, and the plot involves Bieber in present day, being a jumped up little shit (no acting required), and the rest of them traveling back in time, and putting a bullet in his parents heads just before his dads money shot! The End! credits roll!

I'd slap my hard earned cash down to see that in an instant.:D

Why is it necessary to remake Point Break?

They should concentrate on remakes of films which could actually benefit from the process

Planet of Dinosaurs could be a title worth remaking, or possibly Escape from Alcatraz

Maybe we should start a thread of films that are actually worth remaking?

Granted films are always going to be remade or a modern version etc but don't you think the remake scenario is getting a bit silly now has the film industry REALY run out of ideas it doesn't matter who the star is even if you had the best cast or actors in the world there is certain films that should be left alone and never be remade and this is one of them, I'm just waiting for the day when likes of Star Wars or lord of rings is getting a remake,
It's getting beyond a joke now...

Really hope the remake goes the way of the sequel, Point Break: Indio......into a pit and never returns! I have a feeling we won't be so lucky this time. Although, saying they should only remake films deserving of it is a moot point, it's being remade because it was successful. Less chance of studios remaking a great film that bombed, than a good film (like Point Break), that made millions.

Plus, nobody would be able to pull this scene off like Keenu Reeves!

Ok, nobody besides Nick Frost :tongue1:

Vampix 14th April 2013 01:47 AM

Why can't modern-day filmmakers come up with original ideas of their own anymore?

Daemonia 14th April 2013 02:15 AM

You want to remake a film? How about He Knows You're Alone or Blood Song. They were both crap first time around, remake those. Or The Demon with Cameron Mitchell, so crap you won't even remember seeing it.
