This movie is well worth watching. Don't get put off by the fact that the first half hour is relationship building; basically the two leads getting off with each other and talking. Patient watching pays off later. It's a slow burn but creepy as hell. It won't be for everyone, but it ticks some boxes with regard to body horror. I don't want to go into too much detail because I went into it knowing nothing. That worked in the movie's favour. |

I couldn't agree more with wayfarer's review. I'm constantly recommending this one to anyone looking for a good horror movie outside of the Hollywood mainstream. I found HONEYMOON to be extremely effective -- so much that I've been calling it my favorite American-made horror film since THE MIST. It's a disturbing look at modern marriage, a film that asks, "Can you ever really know someone, even someone with whom you plan to spend the rest of your life?" Creeeeepy stuff. Imagine my surprise when I discovered, just a few days after I saw this one, that it was filmed 5 minutes from where I work. I've actually been in that lake a few times, when I was a kid. |
