"I Spit On Your Grave" Remake!

It was only a matter of time and IF this story at "Bloody Disgusting" is to believed, the makers are out to make this as full a deal as the current "R Rating" allows for.:D

I like the original- on a pair with "Cannibal Holocaust" as far as the nasty status is concerned:o- so a redux will suit me quite well.
Whatever the outcome, it won't tarnish the original's place in graphic cinema history.

I'm sure an unrated version will be made available after the R version does the rounds at the cinemas, either way I can't see it being anywhere as graphic as the original. It would be interesting to see what the BBFC will make of it. Early days but I bet they will find nothing to cut.

Another in a long line of unnecessary and unoriginal remakes <yawn>

I agree, bedorca.

A rubbish decision:taking a cult classic that appeals to a minority who like it for it's unique flavour, and undoubtedly remaking it without any of the original's curiously endearing cheapness ... or Keaton! ... no, this will be rubbish.

Well, I for one would see it, and then make judgement.

I don't mind remakes because I'm a snob and love to tell people how superior the original was/is ;-p

My moan about remakes is that they're all turned into glossy teen horrors (now this could very well be my age coming in to play here) and may have lots of bloody gore but the cast's are plastic and lacking any kind of substance.

Halloween (original) the teens were naughty
Halloween (remake) the teens deserve to get killed

Black Christmas (original) the girls are nice
Black Christmas (remake) they deserve to get killed

And so on...

I cannot believe I Spit On Your Grave is being remade and have a feeling it'll be graphic but will be glossy and the "message" will be lost and it'll be all MTV'd up!

Angel 9th June 2008 07:45 PM

Not that I'm a fan of the original but I am eager to see how this will compare.

What next - a remake of House on the Edge of the Park perhaps.

steve 9th June 2008 07:50 PM

Yeah, starring Julia Roberts!

Peter Neal 9th June 2008 10:15 PM

I very much doubt that the "I Spit..." revamp will be your standard MTV affair.
It'll be very interesting indeed to see how this and the "Last Hous" remake will be treated by the ratings boards.
We might be in for a surprise, because I've got a feeling that they'll really attempt to offer the "real deal"- not some "PG-13" nonsense- though that MIGHT as well mark the high point/beginning of the end for the surprisingly long-lasting relationship between multiplex-mainstream and "strong horror"....
