I f-ing loved it!!!!
It was soooooo much fun and atmosphere was awesome!
The 2nd half was not like Poltergeist at all, with the older dimension parts.

To be honest the film doesnt interest me but i will watch it eventually

We'll be setting up official threads and more for Insidious on Cult Labs so I'm looking forward to some good debate on here. It's very cheesy but great fun - think Amityville meets Dreamscape meets Jeepers Creepers would be my take. :pop2:

I saw it last night and enjoyed it. It was a pity that the majority of scares relied on the loud smashing of hands on a piano but there were a couple of genuinely spooky moments and an attempt to contemporise a number of themes that we've seen before (as seen in the original Nightmare on Elm St, and Poltergeist, for example).

The fact that there isn't a general luv for this is a puzzle to me, and I'm as jaded as they come, tho by no means perfect, i'ts still a great old school spooky-cheeseorama. One of my faves of the modern wave, and to those who haven't seen it... Do, simple as that. If you have and don't like it, that's cool too. But if they do a sequel, the first thing is kill off the comedy ghost hunters.

The ghostly goings on suggest a sinister supernatural presence is at work in the house, one that is intent on tearing the Lambert family apart. Forced to seek unconventional help to protect themselves and their children, Josh and Renai are awakened to the terrifying truth – it’s not the house that’s haunted.

I loved this flick!

glad I ddint wait for UK bluray release. its ages away.

When I was a kid, it was movies like Poltergeist that really got me into horror. A kind of soft launch, with all the sadism removed and replaced with nightmare inducing atmosphere.

Insidious is the same kind of thing. Don't get me wrong, I like a torrent of splatter, but a lot of modern horror movies are too downbeat and grim for me. I tend to like my twisted films to be antiques. When it comes to new movies, there's enough real horror in the world so I prefer some escapist spooks.
