There is a little section in an extra on the Cinexcess Blu-ray of Suspiria in which they discuss the remake, and we get a little of Dario's view on it. The footage does seem a little old though. I think I read that he had become involved with it since then(?).

Speaking of that Black Swan trailer, the trailer for the latest adaptation of Jane Eyre also uses, though all too briefly, some of Goblin's score for Suspiria.

There have been so many rumours of Argento remakes - I also read online that Argento had decided to remake his own Deep Red. In 3D! Romero has more recently been attached to this particular remake.

I've not heard anything about the Suspiria remake for quite some time now though...

Just found this quote from David Gordon Green who was once attached to direct the remake, it's from an interview he did with MTV:

“Supriria is a classic to me. I want to be scared. I want to be afraid. It’s an opportunity to take all artistic excellence and be inspired by what was a low budget Italian 70′s gore movie. Where the art world meets the violent and supernatural. I would love to get every geek that loves torture porn and every old lady in line to see ‘Phantom of the Opera’ to come and have this insane experience.”

Ok, last post from me about this (for now), honest guv!

A while ago, Variety carried a quote from the director of First Sun, the production company that acquired the remake rights for Suspiria. First Sun is a conglomeration of director Luca Guadagnino, fashion designer Silvia Venturini and a slew of other producers. Here's what Guadagnino said:

"Suspiria has a unique style that we want to reinvent for today's generation. We intend to create a concept that will encompass cinema, videogames, fashion and music and that revives the original for those who did not experience it. The Gothic resurgence is very strong around the world at the moment ... and we feel that a new version of Suspiria will fit very well."

Dear god no! They say Goths but I could see it being tailored to the Twilight crowd. Shoot me now please.

I wouldn't panic just yet, as these notions about the desired "style" of the remake already did their rounds in the www for the last 2 or so years
"Suspiria" isn't neccesarily a film I need to see remade, but on the other hand, it MIGHT just do some good by making the casual crowds more aware of Euro horror's rich history.

I doubt it would do that.
The remakes of Last House and I Spit has not made most people aware of the nasties or this era of movies if they were too young to remember or not even born yet in those times.

Me neither. I've known of people who didn't even know RZ's Halloween was a remake...

Well, I like to stay at least somewhat optimistic about this- Just think of the "I spit on your Grave" Blu and DVD original/remake double-combo which should be particularly of interest to those who've never seen or owned Zarchi's flick before- and I vividly remember the original "Last House" making a re-appearance as a budget release around the time of the remake's theatrical run. Same goes even for "Halloween" etc in Finland....
So those who wouldn't have bothered about the originals in the first place will keep on doing so, yet some will likely get curious to find out a bit more about those originals
I can't see any of the recent remakes ever "taking" the place of the original though- and I say that as somebody who got some enjoyment out of most of them.
So even the notion of a "Suspiria" remake doesn't scare me.
