That's one naughty Hobbit! It looks pretty good from the clip with a high nudity to knife ratio.:);)

Stephen@Cult Labs 18th May 2012 07:42 AM

Looks like an arthouse film to me,

Is that a good or bad thing?

Haven't decided yet. :)

I am thinking that this mite mite work ! ... although I try to follow the general rule that all remakes are godless shameless bastards. I am but a human tough so who knows !

Demoncrat 18th May 2012 09:37 AM

hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm
don't quite know what to think....yet.
Hope he doesn't Green Street this ;);)

Isn't the original an arthouse film anyhow Stephen??;)

From the director of P2, a film let down by a pretty-boy type cast unconvincingly as a psycho killer. Hmmm...

Demoncrat 18th May 2012 10:06 AM

Cough Mark Harmon in The Deliberate Stranger cough;)

I've not seen "P2" so I can't comment, but it makes a change for a killer to be good looking, goes against the whole cliché of 'ugly on the outside therefore ugly on the inside' that tends to dominate genre films. My bigger worry is along the same lines as Demoncrat, Woods was f*cking dreadful in "Green Street". I'm watching TLOTR trilogy with my kids at the moment, and he's f*cking dreadful in them too.

Looks like yet another pointlessly unnecessary Hollywood remake, of a film that doesn't need remaking in the first place.

I expect it to be as worthwhile and entertaining as all the other Hollywood remakes, like FRIGHT NIGHT, THE HILLS HAVE EYES, FRIDAY THE 13TH, NIGHTWATCH, i.e. a complete stinking pile of smelly, steaming horse poop!

Pete 18th May 2012 11:30 AM

I think it looks good - much better than the poor original.

You gotta be kidding, the original is one of the best slasher films, especially due to the fantastic Joe Spinell! I have my doubts about Elijah Wood in this role, but he looks better than I feared - maybe Gollum was right when he said "bad hobbitses!"

Gojirosan 18th May 2012 02:55 PM

Interesting.

I am not much of a fan of the original, so I am curious to see what they have done with it.

The involvement of Aja and Levasseur is enough to capture my interest.

bizarre_eye@Cult Labs 18th May 2012 02:58 PM

As a big lover of the original, I was ready to write-off the remake; but this actually looks quite interesting.

mr 420 18th May 2012 03:12 PM

This looks not too shabby and I'm surprised that no-one has mentioned Mr Wood's fantastic turn in Sin City yet.

Original bored me to death at one point i was more interested and looking around at the pictures and objects in his flat ....

ReturnToZero 18th May 2012 06:19 PM

I dont know...

I don't really like the original so this may probably be a better movie. But why all these remakes? Just rip-off the good ideas and call the movie something else. I would totally respect that more..

Looove the original.
Hard to tell from just a short trailer, but I am kinda interested in seeing this.
As far as a pretty boy serial killer, many real life serial killers where thought to be good looking and unsuspecting. It allowed them to get closer to their victims.
I will give it a shot when it is released.

robertzombie 19th May 2012 01:22 PM

I really like the original, and I really like that trailer. Pretty chilling in places! Can't wait to see it :D
