Default Zombie 108 (2012)

Zombie 108

The movie that has generated lots of buzz among horror aficionados both at home and abroad finally arrives on DVD in the UK this July! Director Joe Chien’s call out to people to invest in the flick was successful and almost 900 fans helped fund the making of

Taiwan’s first ever Zombie movie!

After a catastrophic accident at a top secret research lab, a deadly virus is released into the city and all hell breaks loose.

Controlled by a local crime lord, District 108 is the one place in the city the police don’t want to go on a normal day. But today is not a normal day, and the crack SWAT team ordered to help evacuate the uninfected must do just that. Met with fierce resistance by the local gangs, both sides suffer heavy casualties before realising that the guys with the guns aren’t the real enemy: the zombies are!

With ammunition running low, the two sides join forces to fight for the only thing worth fighting for: a chance to escape from the city and the zombies currently running loose in it!

Selected for the Terror-Cotta film festival in association with FILM4 Frightfest Prince Charles Cinema London Friday 13th April 2012

A screener was sent to the owner of the forum I am a moderator on and he let me view it. It was a pretty fun movie. Nice gore parts, a splatter of CGI blood here and there, It had nice humor and a really creepy guy that had women in cages. I really enjoyed it. Nothing too serious, just a fun watch.

Zombie 108 is a slightly left-of-centre gutmuncher, so to celebrate that fact, here's a piece on other oddball undead flicks:

Check out this brilliantly fun and exclusive clip from Zombie 108...

Is it just me or do the two main guys look like characters from Left 4 Dead?

Hmmmm. It doesn't look too good to me. Nothing we haven't seen before, no new concepts, just more zombies. I'm getting bored with zombies, to be honest. Ho hum.

To me, this is just another crap movie being overhyped to shift units. That's just my cynicism kicking in.

Well, this film is a LOT sleazier that your typical zombie film, Dae. There's quite a bit of sexual violence that makes it actually quite disturbing, along with the crazy zombie fun. It's definetly a fine example of a Cat. III film. I'll post a clip of this a little later today - you may find that it's something you'd like to check out

Apparently the underrated Jean Rollin was responsible for the film’s iconic dream sequence which adds at least a smidgen of class to this cheesy and sleazy movie.
I wouldn't say it was iconic, it's not even part of the original film. It was shot years later so Eurocine could re-issue it as a 'proper' Zombie movie.
