Default Berberian Sound Studio: Films About Film

Berberian Sound Studio is a movie about making movies. Given the self-regarding nature of movie making, it's no surprise that cinema is full of movies about shooting a film....

Here are some of my favourites

Adaptation, Boogie Nights, Cannibal Holocaust, Cecil B. Demented, Fade To Black, Shadow Of The Vampire, Man Bites Dog, The Stunt Man.

More suggestions and recommendations are greatly appreciated!

A Cock and Bull Story I really liked, captured the rag tag nature of a film crew perfectly, as well as being damn funny of course.

How about Inland Empire. Starts off as a film about film before it nosedives into Lynchland.

The Five Obstructions is good fun, with Lars Von Trier giving Jorgon Leth various challenging filmmaking tasks . . .

I rate Man Bits Dog for the way the film crew slowly gets sucked into the crimes of the protagonist. It's a clever movie, made for peanuts, that puts bigger budgeted flicks to shame.

Kind of in the same league, QT's Inglorious Basterds is a film about films and the power they have (quite literally symbolised by the explosive quality of the celluloid)
