I'm a big JC fan, and The Thing is one of my all time favourite movies, but the makers of The Thing 2011 clearly wanted to make a film that segues into the JC film. It works far better than X-men origins and First Class did to X-men.
The main gripe I have with The Thing 2011 is, as I've posted before, the reliance on CG.
