Lazenby (possibly) returned to the world on Bond in a 1989 episode of the 'Alfred Hitchcock Presents...' television show, in an episode entitled '
Diamonds Aren't Forever'
In it, Lazenby appears as a retired spy, referred to only as "
James ...". In the credits to the episode, the name is listed with the '
dots' included, and other characters are always interrupted before they get to complete his name. The episode includes many subtle references to James Bond, implying that the character played by Lazenby might indeed be Bond.
