THE LEGEND OF THE SEVEN GOLDEN VAMPIRES Roy Ward Baker 1974 One of the most underrated films in the Hammer canon IMO is Roy Ward Baker's collaboration with the legendary Shaw brothers,The Legend of the Seven Golden Vampires.
Bringing together a fusion of martial arts,vampirism,zombies and nudity,this is always unfairly dismissed as a flop.
Okay so we have a pantomime Dracula,but look at what we do have;
Peter Cushing as Van Helsing
Almost non stop kung fu action
A delightful piece of eye candy in Julie Ege
A zombie army
Original vampire creatures
and
An exotic oriental variation on the customary vampire myths and legends.
Definitely a winner in my book.
Drastically recut and edited into The Seven Brothers Meet Dracula for U.S. audiences,I prefer the original cut.
