I love smart American comedies, and I have 2 favourites one is called
Veep and it was recently on Sky Atlantic, it follows the misfortunes of the Vice President of the USA or The Veep... She has a terrible potty mouth and always puts her foot in it - it's cringe-a-minute TV that would make you laugh out loud.
Secondly and slightly more gentle is
Parks and Recreation which is currently not being shown on UK screens at all but is in it's 5th season in America, I believe it's recently been picked up by BBC Four. The series follows Lesley Knope who is the deputy of her local council's Parks and Recreation department in Pawnee, Indiana. She's a total workaholic and all of her colleagues have their own little idiosyncrasies too. Lesley is played by Saturday Night Live regular Amy Poehler, but my favourite character is April Ludgate portrayed by Aubrey Plaza of Scott Pilgrim fame. April has a very dry sense of humour and doesn't like people - I think I see myself in her hahah.
