Your post has made me think a couple of my favourite Horror comedies
Night of the Creeps & Return of the Living Dead could fall under the horror spoof tag, as they reference other films (and directors in Creeps' case.)

I guess for me, if I get a sense of love for the genre then I'm fine with the comedy, but if that's not the case or the comedy elements aren't even funny then my hate meter cranks up!
