I've had a few conversations about this over the years. I really like the actors/visuals/design/soundtrack and pretty much everything about the film, but...

it bores the living p*ss out of me. I've never been able to put my finger on why, it's just always felt like a chore to get through.

There's a few 'classic' films that I feel the same way about, to be honest. While I can understand why people value them in terms of film history, and what they accomplish technically, Psycho and Rosemary's Baby send me to sleep every time I try and watch them. In fact, I'd go as far to say Rosemary's Baby gets on my bloody nerves.
