I'm sure most companies are aware of how region coding restricts their sales but if their hands are tied then their hands are tied. If the licensors want to restrict the region coding to maximise their own sales of the film in other territories there's nothing the releasing companies can do.

It's not done to restrict sales of the goods as such, it's so the films licensors can sell the rights to other territories to make more money. So it IS done from a financial point of view.

(I know you probably know this Dae but I'm just reiterating that Scream Factory will be missing out on sales through no fault of their own while the film licensors will be making more money through region locking the titles)
