How is the law on these nasties in the UK anyhow? I wonder, because I know nothing about it, is possession forbidden?

In germany it is tough and weird on the same sheet, all behind a banner of youth protection, but why do they even cut the highest rated films? I think it is an excuse to censor stuff, which is forbidden officially... The real bad films are the ones that have been confiscated by a court, but when the reason was violence and not any criminal content (like child pornography) you are allowed to own them, even bring them with you from a vacation, what is prohibited is the sale of these and so you may face problems if you have more than one copy of the same film, as they may state you wanted to sell them... The online purchase is problematic as the seller breaks the law and there are cases where films are confiscated as item of proof of a possible hearing (which never happens if the seller is outside the country. I had 4 DVDs snatched, but no further things happened after that, I could even have filed a complaint and might have got them, but I was younger and did not know and just wanted to keep a low profile...
