Default Nightmare at Noon (1988)

A surprisingly obscure one, in the UK stuck on Hollywood DVD release (so keep your eyes open in charity shops and cash converters), this film from Greek director Nico Mastorakis (behind Island of Death) falls awkwardly inbetween cult and mainstream, with too higher production value for a b-movie classic and to odd a storyline to be a mainstream horror.

The storyline is rather reminiscent of Romero's The Crazies but seems to have been simplified somewhat with more focus on some explosive action scenes than the horror or plot. A strong cast includes George Kennedy, Wings Hauser and Bo Kennedy. The British DVD release is a little faded but otherwise fine and widescreen.

My review of Nightmare at Noon. Has anyone else seen this and care to comment?
