I was reading the other day that the Prisoner Concert was apparently the brainchild of award winning variety show director, Leigh Spence, who was also a regular director of episodes on Prisoner itself.

The idea being that this would be the first of many - it was felt it would sell well in the States, as well as allowing the production company to tap into and fully utilise the talents of the principal cast members, most of whom were trained theatre actors with plenty of stage experience.

Presumably, the fact that there was never a sequel means that the original concert did not play too well with TV excutives or, perhaps, it was deemed that regular TV concerts would just not have been feasible based on the workload and commitments regular cast members had to Prisoner itself?

Or maybe they felt a spin off Prisoner "franchise" would dilute the impact of Prisoner "the serial"?
