I think any striking images can make an impression when you're at an age. A few that spring to mind for me were the buffalo slaughter in
Apocalypse Now, and an early scene from a 70's British gothic horror (starring Lana Turner) called
Persecution, in which a young boy drowns his mother's cat in a bowl of milk. That upset and disturbed me immensely at the time. I still get very upset at depicted animal cruelty on screen.
