I finished watching it a bit ago (I'll write a proper review later), but I've not checked out the interviews yet. From the FX work onscreen, it's clear that Savini had some influence, even if it was just advice or guidance, some of his trademark techniques are clearly visible in the kills
I should note that the last time I saw this was via a certain video hosting site and quite possibly a crappy VHS rip, due to how shoddy it looked, so this was my first time seeing it properly
