Sadly, I have to agree with Steel76 on the 4th REC movie; it was a major disappointment. It ignored everything that was tense and scary about the first two and used standard horror movie tropes that we've seen so many times before. 3, which I treated as a standalone, has bags more entertainment value.
The promise for 4, inferred in the title alone, was for a wider location, perhaps a city. This would follow the pattern of "homage" to Demons.
Why the filmmakers decided to go for a generic, and cheap Resident Evil clone, on a ship, is beyond me. It's as if the talent and creativity dissipated as time went on, or as the money ran out.
