I recommended it to my parents, who gave up after the first episode because they couldn't understand what people were saying!

It takes a while to figure out who is who and for your ears to tune into the Baltimore dialect and some of the vernacular. However, once you do that, you should be hooked and find repeated viewings all the more interesting. I've seen the first season four or five times.
