Here here i agree rely to much on special effects, cgi or cram as much action as possible, throw money at it, add a few well known stars and go ott on the action and we onto a winner.
Wrong how about just concenrate a lot more on a good decent plot and storyline..
Xmen and new star trek films i find guilty of that. When they show trailers its full of cgi special effects explosions action etc and tbh films like these dont really apeal to me.
Give me old fashioned 60/70 films any day, one where they couldnt do all that then so had to concentrate on a good story to keep the viewer interested.
