Default Tom & Jerry: The Movie (1992)

After accidentally getting left behind by their owners, the popular cartoon team Tom & Jerry find themselves homeless. They soon meet a dog and a flea friend and soon find they have the ability to talk to each other.

If that isn't enough to tell you not to watch it, I don't know what will.

They soon meet a little girl and plan to rescue her from a mean nanny and a greedy lawyer who's desperate for her father's trust fund money.

Yes, the fact you just heard that Tom & Jerry talk kills the film off completely. In no way should Tom & Jerry talk for THIS LONG. In the cartoons it was only done for a quick gag, yet here they just babble on and on as if they've been doing it for their whole lives. What also doesn't help is the voices, Richard Kind and Dana Hill try to inject some life but their voices just doesn't fit the least bit.

Even though the film has Tom & Jerry in it, they're hardly related to the story at all and when they are it turns into some poor man's version of The Rescuers.

All the new characters are not likable in any sense of the word. Though I must admit for some weird reason I like Lickboot. Yeah, don't ask me why. And that Money song he and Aunt Figg sing is quite funny.

Oh yes, speaking of songs, other than that Money one all the rest are corny and forgettable which is disappointing considering they got Henry Mancini and Leslie Bricusse to do the songs.

Like I said the plot is just The Rescuers all over again and most of the dialogue is a load of cobbles too.

The only bright spots is the animation by Film Roman who normally are good in terms of quality and the other voice actors (Tony Jay being one of the bright spots) but all that cannot inject any life into this miserable piece of do-do. Not only does it feel like an insult to Tom & Jerry, it feels more like a pisstake than anything else. You're better off just watching the REAL Tom & Jerry cartoons instead.
