Collections, repackaging and Box Sets

In addition to the Revisitation and Special Edition discs, and number of stories have been reissued as collections and box sets, or with different packaging. For the most part, they are exactly the same as the previously released editions

Here is a rundown of these titles. Instead of using illustrations, where possible I have linked to Amazon pages:

40th Anniversary 1963-2003 Dalek Collector's Edition – Released October 2003 - Chronologically between #18 'The Curse Of Fenric' (page 2) and #19 'The Three Doctors' (page 3) - Limited edition (5,000 copies) Region 2 DVD box set, exclusive to UK retailer WH Smith. Contains the previously released titles 'The Dalek Invasion of Earth', 'Resurrection of the Daleks' and 'Remembrance of the Daleks', packaged together in a fold-out digipak box

The Cybermen Collection – Released November 2006 - Chronologically between #38 'The Invasion' (page 5) & #39 'New Beginnings' (page 5) - Box set exclusive to Amazon, containing the previously-released DVDs 'Tomb of the Cybermen', 'The Invasion' and 'Earthshock'. NOTE - This set is not to be confused with the new series box set also called 'The Cybermen Collection'

The Third Doctor Collection – Released November 2006 - Chronologically between #38 'The Invasion' (page 5) and #39 'New Beginnings' (page 5) - Box set exclusive to Amazon, containing 6 previously released Third Doctor DVDs: 'Spearhead from Space', 'Inferno', 'The Claws of Axos', 'The Three Doctors', 'Carnival of Monsters' and 'The Green Death'

The Dalek Collection – Released January 2007 - Chronologically between #38 'The Invasion' (page 5) and #39 'New Beginnings' (page 5) - Box set exclusive to Amazon, containing the previously-released Dalek DVDs 'The Dalek Invasion of Earth', 'Genesis of the Daleks', 'Resurrection of the Daleks', 'Revelation of the Daleks' and 'Remembrance of the Daleks'. NOTE - thsi set is not to be confused with the two other DVD releases also called "The Dalek Collection": one a new series box set, and the other a Peter Cushing movie box set

The Complete Davros Collection – Released November 2007 - Chronologically between released between #47 'Destiny Of The Daleks' (page 6) and #48 'Beneath The Surface' (page 6) - Limited-edition box set containing 'Genesis of the Daleks', 'Destiny of the Daleks', 'Resurrection of the Daleks', 'Revelation of the Daleks' and 'Remembrance of the Daleks'. This release also contained a new disc of audio dramas:
  • I, Davros 1: Innocence
  • I, Davros 2: Purity
  • I, Davros 3: Corruption
  • I, Davros 4: Guilt
  • Big Finish: Davros
  • Big Finish: The Juggernauts
  • Big Finish: Terror Firma
  • New exclusive audio drama: The Davros Mission

Bred For War: The Sontaran Collection – Released May 2008 - Chronologically between #51 'The Invasion Of Time' (page 7) and #52 'K9 Tales' (page 7) - Box set containing all 4 Sontaran stories from the classic series: 'The Time Warrior', 'The Sontaran Experiment', 'The Two Doctors' and 'The Invasion of Time'

Regenerations – Released June 2013 - Chronologically between #103 'The Mind Of Evil' (page 14) and #3 'Spearhead From Space Blu-Ray' (page 1) - Limited edition (10,000 copies), individually numbered, box set telling the story of the Doctor's regenerations

The set also included a lavish coffee-table book containing 'superb photography from across the era' plus 'detailed and informative accounts of each regeneration'

* NOTE - The version of 'The Tenth Planet' included here was an exclusive pre-release version of the story. The official standalone version was release a few months later

The Fourth Doctor Time Capsule – Released July 2013 - Chronologically between #3 'Spearhead From Space Blu-Ray' (page 1) and #22 'The Green Death Special Edition' (page 3) - Limited edition (5,000 copies), individually numbered box set. Contains the first DVD release of the 'Terror of the Zygons' (although a barebones version) plus a host of other items:
  • An exclusive 4th Doctor action figure
  • a copy of 'Genesis of the Daleks' on CD
  • a copy of the novel 'Tomb of Valdemar' by Simon Messingham
  • an audio interview with Tom Baker
  • exclusive art cards
  • a 4th Doctor sonic screwdriver
  • Memorabilia art cards
  • photographic print

NOTE - 'Terror Of The Zygons' was released as a standalone version, filled with special features, a few months later

'An Introduction To The Third Doctor' – Released November 2015 - Chronologically between #110 'The Underwater Menace' (page 15) and #3 'Spearhead From Space' Steelbox (page 1) - HMV Exclusive, containing 'Spearhead from Space', 'Carnival of Monsters' and 'The Time Warrior'

'An Introduction To The Fourth Doctor' – Released November 2015 - *Chronologically between #110 'The Underwater Menace' (page 15) and #3 'Spearhead From Space' Steelbox (page 1) - HMV Exclusive containing 'Robot', 'Genesis of the Daleks' and 'The Pyramids of Mars'
