Andrei Rublev was like that for me but I'm glad I persevered because it's probably his best film!
Solaris was a let down for me, too many people held it in high esteem that it could never live up to its reputation. I did enjoy though, just not a masterpiece. I still have the Soderbergh remake to watch when I get the time.
