I think my point is that that's the image I have of Roger Moore, whether deserved or not. There was an article in the Guardian where they described how Daniel Craig is probably the best all-round actor to have played Bond and, due to the money involved, had the producers in a bind to the point where he could command a huge salary.
Bond is not just a film franchise, but an entire industry, in which millions of dollars can be made by switching the main alcoholic beverage from Martini to Heineken, and those sort of factors play into the decision of who to cast in the main role.
