Red Eye (2005)
A rare Wes Craven venture into the mainstream. This thriller starring Rachel McAdams and Cillian Murphy in a game of cat and mouse aboard a 'red eye' (Depart late night - early morning arrival, for those unaware) flight involving an assassination attempt on a Homeland Security chief.
McAdams is quite good in her role, at first vulnerable and insecure but growing into her situation with great courage whilst Murphy, all smiles and charm to begin with becomes ever more unhinged leading up to a finale which sees Craven back on home turf in what is essentially a slasher movie / final girl showdown.
I've seen this film a few times now and whilst it possibly isn't Wes Craven at his best, - the conspiracy plot isn't high in the logic stakes,- he's still able to notch up the tension levels before a palm clenching climax and although it's watered down Craven, it will appeal to it's intended mainstream audience.
