Doesn't it just??

I Didn't Know You Cared (BBC, 1975)
The first series of an adaptation of Peter Tinniswood's Uncle Mort stories ... updated to the period of the production
Now I love Mort. He is British through and through. If he isn't happily reminiscing about WWI ... his allotment is a shrine to Empire . Robin Bailey has a fair stab at it, being backed up by Liz Smith, John Comer, Anita Carey and Stephen Rea (even if his accent keeps slipping ) but I'm not laughing as much as I should. Gretchen Franklin turns up as a 'giddy' aunt later. Still tis fascinating curio. The sight of pre punk Britain for a start. The theme tune I can't quite get out of my head . 3 more followed! Dare I take the plunge??
