Set in 1937 from the start it has the feel of a film noir tough detective story to it. Jack Nicholson plays investigator Gittes, hired to follow company exec Mulwray. Faye Dunaway plays the leading femme fatale. Roman Polanski directs and has a cameo in this film(man with the knife), there is a lot of tense and suspenseful moments with a good background score by Jerry Goldsmith.
