The Pit and The Pendulum 1961.
16th century, Francis Bernard travels to Spain, to understand the death of his sister after she married the son of a cruel inquisitor.
With Vincent Price and Roger Corman you don't need a lot of blood and guts to make a good movie. Based on the story by Edgar Allen Poe, Price takes the role of Nicholas Medina who is the son of the Spanish inquisitor, who believes his father murdered his mother but in a cruel way. John Kerr stars as Francis who is optimistic about hie his sister died played by Barbara Steele. As with Corman, there is always dark gothic atmosphere and great cinematography by Floyd Crosby. Definitely one for watching.
The Agony of my soul found vent in one loud, long and final scream of Despair. Poe.
