We wander through a world that even Harry Palmer would find unseemly. Aided by his rude mechanical Lonely ( Russell Hunter), abetted (sometimes) by the ever oily Meres, our erstwhile "hero" is really put through the ringer this time.
The aura of doubt hangs over the series as a whole, leading to some unsettling moments
now, who wif me jaded post modern eyes etc, what they thought
then ...
My one grumble with this is that we don't seen enough of Peter Bowles as Meres, as his barely unconcealed violence made for an interesting reading of the part, used as I was to Valentine's more unctious performance of same.
This being the first two discs of the BW Network set.
