‘The Purge’ Season Two is Bringing a New Perspective to the Franchise

Fans of the The Purge will have something different to tune in for in season two of the series based on the popular franchise.

According to Entertainment Weekly, rather than focusing on the events of Purge night, the new season will step outside the actual event to show what happens the rest of the year as citizens deal with the fallout of the violent holiday.

Derek Luke (Glory Road) and Paola Nunez (The Son) will star as Marcus Moore and Esme Carmona, both of whom work for the New Founding Fathers of America.

After an attempt on his life when someone breaks into his home on Purge Night, Marcus spends his time attempting to find out who his attacker was in an effort to stave off another attack when the holiday rolls around again. Esme, meanwhile, is a true believer who works within the command center on Purge Night but she soon begins to believe that the people in whom she’s put her faith are not what they seem to be.

The show will also focus on Max Martini as a man who plans a heist that goes wrong during Purge night and Joel Allen as a fraternity member named Ben who finds himself on the receiving end of violence during the Purge which continues to take its toll on him, mentally, long after the event is over.

It will certainly be a different perspective on the Purge than we’ve seen before and could make for some very interesting television when the new season begins on October 15, 2019 on USA Network.

What do you think? Does seeing this side of The Purge intrigue you?
