Terror By Night. 1946.
On a train from London to Edinburgh, Holmes and Watson escort a lady who is carrying the Star of Rhodesia diamond. When the son is killed and the diamond stolen the duo with Inspector Lestrade try to discover the culprit.
This who dunnit film is filled with high fast paced atmosphere built up with great actors who bring the characters to life and each with a different motive to be on the train. With the black and white cinematography and light shades give out the suspense along with some comedy replies from Holmes. The train setting is the best aspect with the details and arrangement of the cramped gangways and private compartments.
