* The Savoy Havana Band was a British dance band of the 1920s who had a residency at the Savoy Hotel, London, between 1921 and 1927
* Among the players was a young American saxophonist named Rudy Vallée. He would later became one of the first crooners, inspiring Bing Crosby, Frank Sinatra and Perry Como. He was also an actor, who appeared as Lord Marmaduke Ffogg in three episodes of the 1960's 'Batman' television show
* Another member of the ensemble was the pianist Billy Mayerl, who's composition 'Miss Up-to-Date' was sung and played by Cyril Ritchard in Hitchcock's 1929 film 'Blackmail'
