May 8th, 1974 - The first of three days filming of the '
Pinball Wizard' sequence with Elton John for the film 'Tommy' at the Kings Theatre in Southsea.
The extras for the sequence are students recruited from Portsmouth Polytechnic. While smashing his guitar for the cameras, Pete accidentally brains one of the female students, sending her to hospital. He later gives her the guitar!
The band would return to the city a few weeks later on May 22 when they would play a special 'thank you' concert at the Guildhall in Portsmouth for the student extras
