He's Out There (2018)

Yvonne Strahovski takes her two young daughters to a secluded lake house and ends up in a fight for survival against a deranged killer.

He's Out There is a tasty little film for the most part with a couple of well constructed shocks towards the finale and a nice build up of tension and intrigue. What lets it down is the lack of characters. There are only six in total throughout so when three of these are the heroine and her daughters you know you aren't in for a slash-tastic Friday the 13th style thrill ride and it's this thought that means even at 85 minutes it feels slightly too long.

Strahovski is a credible heroine and the two girls are better than most kids in horror films ie- not making you want to gouge out your eyes and slice your ears off, and it's testament to the three that despite what i said in the previous paragraph you stick with the film until the rewarding final third when the cool looking madman makes his entrance.
