I never thought about it at the time but it's amazing that we were allowed to watch some of these films at school. I also saw a cut-down version of Roman Polanski's Macbeth, including the beheading scene, which was an X certificate. I can't have been more than 13 at the time! Can't think James Ferman would have approved of us working class proles being exposed to such mind altering violence at such an early impressionable age
