At the 1996 MTV Europe Awards broadcast on tv Metallica were scheduled to play their single King Nothing. However MTV refused them any pyro for the song and also instructed them not to swear at all.
So at the last minute the band played a ridiculously fast and very sweary couple of punk songs in Last Caress (Misfits)and So What! (Anti-Nowhere League)
The performance has never been subsequently broadcast and Metallica were banned from MTV for years.
