Comfort & Joy (1984, Bill Forsyth)
Revisiting this one is always a gateway to many memories. The initial loathing for it as it did not float my boat in the way his other films had, callow demon was very stroppy harumph, the eventual rediscovery through the vhs and now I have it on BD. Full circle?
A disc jockey finds more than extra sauce when he stops to buy some ice cream to commiserate being dumped. Based on a slightly more violent real life case, this is probably the high point of the director's "grounded whimsy" worldview. The cast all play their part, though some performances convince more than others ahem.
