I'm not really a massive fan of the genre but I do like the batman. I think it's because of the dark tone and mythology of the character. Nolan's trilogy is tremendous in my opinion as is Burton's two films.

I don't even remember that, in fact i don't really recall anything much from it.

I thought Super Inframan would be more your cup of tea, Pete.

I'm a fan of the genre. Though I like the cheesy stuff. I love the shows like Gatchmen and the 70s era Bixby Hulk and the ultra cheesy 70s Spiderman series starring Nicholas Hammond. Loved the Japanese live action Spiderman series too.

I think the newer stuff is vastly over-rated. Are Nolans' Batman films good, sure, are they high art..no not at all.

The latest X-MEN film had some great work in it. Though people still seem shocked when a comic book movie isn't some cheesy mess.

I remember watching the Hulk 80s tv movies. Each had characters introduced that they hoped would spawn its own series. Sadly neither ever did and Rex Smith would get closest when he actually had his daredevil made into a pilot that did not get picked up.

So far The Avengers is the closest to taking a comic and literally putting it right up there on the screen.

This thread has reminded me I need to buy the Flash TV series box-set, worth watching for Mark Hamill as The Trickster.

I'm inclined to agree with Goji, I find the superhero sub-genre of action is annoyingly overexposed as a whole. Most of the Marvel stuff for me is basically bland fluff except for Punisher: War Zone and X Men: First Class. DC are a little better with Watchmen and Nolan's well made but egregiously overrated Batman trilogy;I did enjoy The Dark Knight Rises the most of the three mind. I found Dredd was the best comic book film of the past few years.

Still think Avengers assemble was the best superhero film this year, followed closely by Dredd and then Dark knight rises.
